FiddleSinging Retreat 2023

13-15 January 2023

Tanner’s Hatch YHA,

Dorking, Surrey

Tuck yourself away in the woods for a joyful weekend of laughter and music as we explore singing and playing at the same time!

Please Note! This cosy venue is a 15-20 minute walk through the woods from the car park or 2 miles across fields & footpaths to the station.

No need to worry what your voice sounds like, or whether you’re a good enough fiddler! This is a weekend for everyone who loves to sing and wants to accompany themselves on fiddle.

The voice and the sound of the fiddle are so close, and can together to create delicious harmony: like sisters singing, the sound greater than the sum of the parts.

In addition to demystifying the mayhem of two difficult things at once, we we also look at finding and adapting repertoire, how to build accompaniment styles.

I have a straightforward method for accessing the form, so don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before, a willingness to get stuck in is all you need!

The weekend is aimed at fiddle players, with other instruments welcome. It’s restricted to women’s voices to reduce some variables around where to comfortably pitch songs for everyone, please get in touch if this is the weekend for you and you don’t quite fit the description!

All meals and dormitory accommodation included.

Plus optional walks, tutors concert & chill out time!
